I would like some opinions on some paint colors I have chosen?

This is the color I chose for the downstairs living room: https://www.glidden.com/colors/getColor.鈥?/a>

This is the color I chose for the dining room which is near the living area. https://www.glidden.com/colors/getColor.鈥?/a>

You can disagree with my preferences, but be respectful and constructive.

If you like my choices, offer some tips on decor!

Thanks!I would like some opinions on some paint colors I have chosen?
Very nice! Also Glidden is THE BEST for being able to touch it up later!

I gotta run,but will write back tonight with some awesome ideas!

Your colors are awesome now I would get items that have both colors in them like drapes that are brown with the maroon in it too,but it only has to have those colors in minute amounts. It doesn't have to be dark drapes.

Carpet that is exactly between maroon and the brown you have would be okay. So get a small paper cup and put equal amounts of the brown and maroon in it and mix it together. Then take that to the carpet store{If you are getting new carpet.} Then have it that color, but lighter so it will bring out those colors, but won't be too dark.

Now when you paint it if you are getting any kind of a gloss wheather it's semi gloss or eggshell it's a good idea to do the first coat in flat. Flat will cover a lot better and you can use that as your primer instead of white unless you have water damage or something ,but in that case just spot prime before using the colored paint.

On first coat ROLL FIRST! Nobody will agree with you even pros, but they are wrong! Roll first on the first coat with long strokes when laying it off and jam it right into the corners. This will save time on brushing just make sure you smooth it all out. Then brush corners with the flat paint. Use a 1/2 inch nap roller cover.

Next on finish coat if it is any kind of gloss use a 3/8ths inch roller and brush as you go. Brush left side if you are right handed and do top and bottom maybe 10 feet at a time and rolling long strokes staying away from top and bottom at first, but as you add more paint smooth what you appllied 30 seconds ago. NEVER try to make paint look good as you put it on!

#1- Apply paint staying 8 inches away from ceiling and base in two rows.

#2 - Spread towards the first row of paint you applied always spreading towards what was applied before gradually getting near ceiling line you brushed. This give a little time{A minute or two} for the paint to tack up because it WILL NEVER lay off good until it sets up for a couple of minutes anyways.

As you get about 2 to 3 rows ahead lay off the first row with long strokes from the base to ceiling with and the roller will be mostly dry as you roll back to that point. You will have a PERFECT rolled finish! Then when you get to the 10 foot mark smooth out roller area and brush quickly the next 10 feet.

Semi-glosses will show lap marks if you brush too far ahead. There is a product called Floetrol. It is latex and keeps the paint wet longer to prevent drag and lap marks. It DOES NOT this drown the color of the paint! It is also GREAT for ceilings because ceiling paint is sooo chalky.

Oh yah when you first take your roller covers out of the plastic wrap masking tape around the cover so it looks like a barber poll. Then rub it in and then pull it off. This will get the new roller free of hairs that will shred into the paint and give you a better finish.

Good luck!I would like some opinions on some paint colors I have chosen?
I very much like your choices, especially the living room.

These are very saturated colors and if you do not have good light in your rooms it might make them seem dark or look smaller.

Chose a light ceiling color that is slightly tinted with your wall color.

Crown molding is nice if it fits into your budget.

I am assuming that your furniture and accessories are compatible with your wall colors.

Go for texture in your finish materials for maximum impact.

I am sure it will look great when you are finished and if you end up not liking it, the best thing about it is, it is only paint! You can always choose a different color.
I like the choises that made but remember to carry some of those colour in both rooms , and use the reverse affect with the window covering by going a bit lighter for the living room I have included a picture the sofas are like the colour that you chose but take a look at the lighter shade on the wall that would be the one used for the window covering

for the dining room if you like traditional

add a touch of gold and for the window ivory will look wonderful I like white but it will be too stark to look at ivory is warm and luxurious

I have no idea on the furniture that you have so this is the best that I can suggest so far ,if you can add a bit more detail I will try to be of more help to you .
I like both color choices, but let me add that I just moved to a house with almost the identical color scheme and it does make the rooms seem darker than they are. Our dining room is small so the crimson-y color doesn't seem oppressive (it's nice--plush and classic), but I keep the lights on in the living room even during the daytime. When we repaint I'll do the living room in a lighter shade.
