How do bodyshops match cars paint colors. (Like) how can they make the same exact paint again for any car?

There is a microscope website to take samples and describe to you the actual paint. Rarely a paint is achieved

with layering effects like greys from a white base. This site

tells you in a miniature sample and will describe what paint

stocks are available and how to apply those for total repaints. Patch repairs is litely different.http://www.corel.comHow do bodyshops match cars paint colors. (Like) how can they make the same exact paint again for any car?
Take a chip of paint from the car, they are able to test it that way and match it.How do bodyshops match cars paint colors. (Like) how can they make the same exact paint again for any car?
Every car has its colour code on a plate under the bonnet, this colour is made up by a paint supplier, then tinted over until it's an exact match,

some colours fade badly, or metallics lose there metallic look, these have to be allowed for in the tinting,

there are now machines available that will give you an exact match.
your car carries a matal tag, on the door post, usually. it gives the paint number for that car. they just use that number. easy.
My truck will be needing painted since Walmart drove the side of my truck against their building. The dealer says that they can match my paint with the VIN and they can also use a paint matching machine with a chip of paint from my truck
Most assembly line cars use standard paints from a specific year with a serial number associated with it. Like 1998 ford forest green #h1096 etc. The shop just orders it and goes to work. Of couse 9 year old paint will most likely need to be buffed out to match the new paint. Some custom paints need to be mixed by an expert to match.
If they are a modern shop, they will have a paint mixing station. This station will have all the colors to mix any color on any car or truck. The paint code is printed on all cars in the vin no. in the door post or glove compartment These colors are then blended or tinted to match your color to the tee.(if they are pro,s) like me(smile)
