What are motivational paint colors?

I am painting a classroom and I want to use a color that is more motivational than dreary, it also has to match the blue/gray family of colors of the floorWhat are motivational paint colors?
Baby blue or 'Hospital' green with lots of white. Use color sparingly when painting and keep stuff on the wall colorful but limit the amount. Better one big collage than a myriad of little paintings, posters or pragmatical pieces.

That standard gray floor is designed to go with 'anything'.What are motivational paint colors?
A creamy yellow is a definite color for motivation. As red brings on passion and possibly anger (as does hot pink), studies have shown that yellow -- even used in accents -- is the perfect color for an office/work setting.

Remember that it's a strong color and it's the first color our eyes recognize in the spectrum -- so a soft yellow is fine.
A very pale warm gray with pink accents is the most inspiring color scheme according to NASA research done in the late 80's. Sorry I can no longer locate the info on NASA website but it at least would go well with the blue/gray. There is a lot of info on color psychology out there but just as many opinions as facts - probably more.
I think a nice soft butter-yellow is fine, but I really like the idea of an apricot or peach color on one possibly two or three wall's with the remaining walls done in a white or dove gray. On the color charts blue and orange are opposites or complimentary color's and so may be very appealing to the students eyes.
My suggestion is to go to a local paint store and get some sample cards and take them to the room. Lay them by the tile and see what looks the best and what works for you. I would not rule out certain areas of color such as violet. This family of color certainly motivates me and would blend with your gray and blue colors as well.

Really though, it is a matter of personal taste. You are the one that will be in this room and it should be something that you absoulutely love. Good Luck with you selection and may God bless you....Nomadic
