What are good colors to paint a room?

my rooms in the basement, it dosent have windows in it and has alot of wall space, any ideas? What are good colors to paint a room?
bright, light colors. white works but is kind of boring. Depending on your taste you could do tans, peaches, very light greys, yellows - but muted not sunshine - you would get sick of that. Any color really that is lighter. Whatever you choose paint the ceiling about 2-3 shades lighter (just add white to your paint). That will make the room seem even larger and therefore more bright, without bringing the room in on itself with all the same color. Also do a focal wall. For indtance if you choose peaches, do 3 walls in a nice cool peach color, the ceiling a couple shades lighter and one wall either dark peach, a purple (muted dark), Chocoalte brown, etc. It will really give the room nice dimension. Good luck. Greens would look good as well. What are good colors to paint a room?
dumpster dirty green and foor your carpet hot pink wit smiley faces trust me i love my room like that
light blue or even green, it is relaxing and calm
Without knowing more information about your color favorites or what's currently in your room, it's hard to make a good suggestion.

Take a look around the showroom gallery at http://www.roomvues.com for some ideas.

You can upload a photo of your room into the makeover gallery there and for ';free'; get some specific advice from a color consultant or interior decorator.

It's pretty awesome!
well it really depends on your style but i would recommend neutral tones if you want to have alot of options to change your room if you want to in the future.
i painted mine blue yellow green and pink
light and bright colors are the best
Your favorite color would be best of course!
neutral colours like magnolia!
If your room doesn't have any natural light coming in from a window, then your best bet is to bring the light in through your paint by using color from the sunshine family: yellow! Though I don't know exactly what you want to use the room for, I'd stay away from any screaming yellows such as lemon peel or lemon lollypop. Aim more for a light custard cream yellow. Don't lean towards beige either, or you'll feel you've gone dowdy and stuffy. The brown in the beige will do that.

Here's a picture... concentrate on the Straw yellow, egg custard or ivory castle colors. Do the trim with scotchbutter.

Add warmer or lighter colors in your decor scheme, depending on what you want. If it's a play room for your kids, punch it up with some funky kids colored furniture such as this:

If it's just a reading or hanging out room, look at what some fresh patterns can do to lighten up your space and make it still feel cozy and inviting:

If it's a office space, consider adding a greige color for the trim, and drop in a hint of black and white:

However, if it's a small and dingy powder room, consider using a screaming yellow:

And even if the room you're doing isn't a bathroom, you'll get the idea with this link of what a nice custard yellow and warm yellow-white can do to warm up and brighten up some space:

Okay... I guess that's about it... Sure hope I helped...
';Copen Blue'; by sherwin williams. It's very very light %26amp; bright. Perfect for the basement:

I painted my walls light blue and it looks really nice. You should paint it light blue, too. It's lovely, bright, and makes everything seem happier. :)
well in a basement what looks nice is waynes board (that stuff that goes half way up the wall to the chair rail) in white or off-white, then for the upper part of the wall a light color like yellow, tan, blue, or a sage green
I'd start off by coming up with a theme. For instance, if you like outdoors, the beach, hunting, fishing, surfing, animals, flowers, the rain forest, Or, if you like music (guitars), automobiles, motorcycles, records, or japanese art, comic books, rock stars, what ever it might be, start with an item of choice, a picture, rug, a bed spread or a mural and take your color clues from there.

since there are no windows, why not find a window mural, then paint the rest of the room around that.

Here's a great web site to get you thinking:

Good luck and have fun. Remember, paint isn't permanent, you can always change it if you don't like it.
