Can i directly start painting with oil paint colors on pre stretched canvas ?

do i have to treat the canvas with something before starting ?Can i directly start painting with oil paint colors on pre stretched canvas ?
Pre-stretched canvases are usually also pre-primed. If it's whiter on the front than on the back, it's primed. You can put some more Gesso over it if you want to, but you don't have to.Can i directly start painting with oil paint colors on pre stretched canvas ?
yes..the canvas should be primed before painting. yet you could always experiment.
Yes you should prime the canvas before, if don't the unprimed canvas will only last for a couple of 100 years or so and then start demolishing...that's what my art teacher would say. So its best to prime your canvas with gesso. One or two layers of it always works for me.
Yes you can. It is treated. But if you want a smootherr finish you could sand it and do a fresh layer of gesso.
I always gesso my canvas first to protect it from the

acid in the oils....It also makes a better painting surface...
