Stick with warm tones - Browns, maybe deep reds. Depending on the size of your dining room, you probably want it too feel comfortable and homey, so stick with warm colors and if you have wood furnature, make sure the shades are a bit darker. Also, dark colors do tend to make a room look smaller, so if it is a small room consiter adding mirrors or only doing one or two walls that dark color and the others a complementary color that's not quite so opressive.
i love a red wine color. my last three dining rooms have had different tones of this lovely deep shade and everyone thinks it's beautiful. i get compliments every time someone comes over.





no matter what you choose, be sure it is a color that if it was a food, you would be comfortable eating it. this is the best rule i've known for dining rooms.
