What paint colors are good to make a room look bigger and brighter?

I'm having trouble figuring out what color to paint my bedroom. my bedspread has small polkadots of all different colors on a white backround, and i have a rug to match. my furniture is white, and my carpet is a creamish color. my room is small and doesn't get much light. what colors are cool but really useful in this case?

Well you have a dilemma. Since your furniture is light, painting the room too light may wash the room out. I suggest you pick a colour of one of the polka dots and do a lighter version of it. Painting the ceiling the same colour as the walls (as long as it's light) can also make the room look bigger. Additionally, to anchor the paint to the room, your accessories can be the colour of the paint, and one vibrant colour from the polka dots. A rule of thumb is one main colour, and two accent colours!! Have fun!!What paint colors are good to make a room look bigger and brighter?
cream, or any colors of the polka dots ... to make the room seem taller paint a coat of the wall color onto the edge of the ceiling.
I can not tell you what color I think is personal taste. The one thing for sure paint the ceiling white makes the room visually taller and bigger don't use the same color as the walls going to be. Have fun painting.
I'm with the first poster, a light yellow is good, make it close to the cream rug but on the yellow side. It will bring some ';sunshine'; into the room. Get some small knickknacks or art to pick up your two favourites of the colours in the polka dots but keep it simple since the room is small.
The lighter the color the larger the room seems to be.Darker colors make the room seem smaller...do it for a living
pale colors of the polka dots i would think
PCXIX has you on the right track....If feesi

able use chair rail and paint dark below and lighter above.Check the LRV on the back of the color chip (sample)
a pale yellow would be perfect for you! it reflects light well, is bright and open. Choose a light shade the color of butter. I have this color all over my house.
Something light, like ';vanity pink'; by sherwin williams:

And be sure to get a semi-gloss sheen. It will reflect the most light.
