Paint colors inside the house that compliment each other.?

I'm getting a house, and I'm redoing everything and starting completly fresh, just wondering what colors look good together and how do I choose!Paint colors inside the house that compliment each other.?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

main thing you want to keep in mind is the furniture in your room that you are painting make it blend in to the colors that you are using with your furniture say you have a green sofa you could go lighter color green or a tan , beige , it seems that a lot of new homes coming up now are using alot of brighter colors instead of tans whites your normal colors you use to see on walls now there greens blues mauve's just let your imagination run , you could even do borders on top or in the middle of the walls and use to of the primary colors that is in the border
Wow! Furniture, wallcolors, floors? Great!

1] if you like mostly COOL colors [ white, pinks, cherry red, burgundy, lmon, mint, jade, emerald, pine green; turquoise, sky, royal, smoke blues, purples, grays, blacks, and silver ]

a] do floors in light to medium gray [ will hide dirt, and go with your favorite colors ]

b] pick your three favorite colors [ or combo of you and spouse's fav colors ] to use for public [ LR, DR, kitchen, FR, hall ] rooms. Say, smoke blue, sage green, and butter yellow.

c] do kitchen primarily in cook's fav colors [ walls, or curtains and table linens ] with an accent of one other color.

Ex: yellow with green.

d] do LR and DR to coordinte with each other - both have same color drapes; or both have same wall color.

ex: blue walls with yellow drapes

e] do family room in third color, or best dirt color

ex: green with blues

f] add silver, or iron metals to decor - will flatter all 'your' colors

f] powder room could match LR, or hall colors.

2] If you like WARM colors [ ivory, tomato red, rust, peach, orange, terra cotta, golden yellow, lime, kelly, olive greens; aqua, turquoise, teal, bright purple, caramel tan, espresso brown, and gold ]

a] pick a floor color in a warm light to medium beige, to hide dirt, and go with all your warm colors.

b] pick the three fav colors, say orange, golden yellow, and olive

c] cook's fav for kitchen

ex: golden yellow with olive

d] do LR and DR so they coordinate with each other

ex: orange walls both; one with golden drapes, and one with olive drapes

e] do family room in third color - lime with terra cotta [ deep orange ] drapes

f] add brass or copper metals, to go with all 'your' colors

IF YOU MOVE A LOT [ military family, or mobile profession ]

suggest:

a] buy large upholstered pieces in a 'your' neutrals [ white, navy, gray, black for COOLS; ivory, olive, tan, brown for WARMS.

b] then add colored accents in curtains, paint, or accessories:

lamps, shades, toss pillows, ornaments, candles and holders, vase/flowerpot/planter

c] suggest framing all art, posters, family photos in similar color material, so they can be re-arranged [ brass/chrome,

oak, walnut, colored enamel ]

FOR EVERYONE:

Go thru each room every year, and get rid of:

ugly

broken

unused

wrong color, size, etc

Donate it, or toss it out!
We did tan on the top half of the dining room walls with a dark gray on the bottom separated by a wood stained chair rail. It looked so good that we plan on doing it to our new home too! I know it sounds odd but it really looks good. Just pick colors you like and try them out! You never know what might look good. Besides, its just paint! If you hate it then paint over it! Have fun!!
Choose by what you like. If you like earth tones consider sage, beige, cinnamon.

If you like light and airy go with celery and robin's egg blue.

For drama, use white, black and red.

Start slowly, decorate one room and go from that.
